The National Office is accepting candidate applications for the 3rd National Student President from March 1st - April 10th, 2013. The 2013-2014 National Student President will be elected at the 2013 National Conference in Kalamazoo, MI on Saturday, April 13th.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS & VOTING PROCEDURE:
Per
Article III. Section 11 of the National Bylaws, the National Student
President shall be elected by a majority vote of all Undergraduate
Chapters attending the annual meeting that are in good standing with the
National Office. All Undergraduate Chapters attending the annual
meeting that are in good standing with the National Office shall have
five (5) votes.
Each
candidate for the National Student President shall be nominated by
his/her Undergraduate Chapter, and there shall be only one (1) candidate
per Undergraduate Chapter. Each candidate will have an opportunity to
publish and present his/her resume to all Undergraduate Chapters
attending the annual meeting via the conference materials and the AHP
Website.
Prior to
the election, each candidate will be given a maximum of ten (10) minutes
to make a formal presentation to the attending Undergraduate Chapters
on the merits of his/her candidacy. The National Student President shall
be elected by secret ballot following the formal presentations.
All
candidates shall submit (via Chapter President) a professional resume
and concise (1-2 page) bio that highlight leadership capacity,
organizational skills, personal successes, and overall commitment to
aviation and to Alpha Eta Rho. In addition, candidates shall submit a
professional campaign video (no longer than 3 minutes) for posting on the AHP Website.
PLEASE NOTE:
All application materials shall be submitted via email to the National
Executive Director (executivedirector@alphaetarho.org) by the Chapter
President as PDF and MPEG for posting on the AHP Website.
Voting will occur on Saturday, April 13th, 2013 at
the 2013 National Conference. Chapter Presidents shall cast all votes
on behalf of their Chapters via secret ballot following the formal
presentations.
The 3rd National Student President will be announced at the 2013 National Conference Formal Banquet on the evening of April 13th, 2013.
VOTING RULES:
- Individual Chapters May Nominate Only (1) Candidate.
- All Chapters in Good Standing Shall Be Allowed (5) Votes.
- Chapters Nominating a Candidate May Cast NO MORE THAN (2) Votes for Their Candidate.
- Votes Shall Be Cast by the Chapter President Via Secret Ballot at the 2013 National Conference.

ARTICLE III. Section 11 - The National Student President
Section
11. THE NATIONAL STUDENT PRESIDENT. The National Student President of
Alpha Eta Rho shall serve as a non-voting advisor to the Board of
Directors. The National Student President will be responsible for
attending all meetings and conference calls of the Board of Directors,
and shall advise the Board of Directors on the student positions on
issues facing the Fraternity. The National Student President shall
preside over the annual meeting of Alpha Eta Rho. The National Student
President shall be elected by a majority vote of all Undergraduate
Chapters attending the annual meeting that are in good standing with the
National Office. All Undergraduate Chapters attending the annual
meeting that are in good standing with the National Office shall have
five (5) votes. Each candidate for the National Student President shall
be nominated by his/her Undergraduate Chapter, and there shall be only
one (1) candidate per Undergraduate Chapter. Each candidate will have an
opportunity to publish and present his/her resume to all Undergraduate
Chapters attending the annual meeting. Prior to the election, each

term. The National Office shall cover all travel, lodging, and food
expenses of the National Student President for all official events and
meetings to which the National Student President is invited to attend by
the National Executive Director and National President.
PURPOSES OF NATIONAL STUDENT PRESIDENT:
- To Represent the Student Membership of Alpha Eta Rho on a National Level
- To Serve as a Voting Member of the National Board of Directors
- To Advise the National Board of Directors
- To Plan & Conduct the Annual Meeting of Alpha Eta Rho.
Serving on
the National Student Board of Directors and representing Alpha Eta Rho
at the meetings and conventions of other prominent aviation
organizations (AOPA, EAA, WAI, NBAA) is a privilege and an opportunity
to expand records and resumes on a National Level.
